Scion Instruments Canada team
The People Behind the Solutions
When you work with Scion Instruments Canada, you work with a team that has been solving analytical problems across Canadian industry for decades. From the founders who built their careers at Varian to the specialists who keep your systems running today, every person on this team brings hands-on expertise and a genuine commitment to getting your measurements right.
The team
Over a century of combined analytical experience.
Every person on this team was hired for depth in a specific area and for a willingness to stay involved until the problem is solved.
Robert Molino
Robert is a co-owner of SCION Instruments Canada who leads customer relationships and helps develop the sales team across the country.
He brings a business-level perspective to every conversation — budgets, timelines, procurement, compliance — and knows the pressures laboratories face beyond the science.
A trained coach, he’s as comfortable mentoring people as talking instrumentation.
Mark Cullen
Mark is a co-owner of SCION Instruments Canada and manages Western Canada accounts. With factory-level knowledge of Varian GC platforms going back decades, he’s the person you call when nobody else recognizes the failure mode.
Beyond legacy support, he leads custom manufacturing projects and handles the high-level troubleshooting that keeps complex systems running.
That depth of experience is rare and of great value to our customers.
Darren Johnston
Darren is the technical lead behind every complex application and custom research project at SCION Instruments Canada.
With a BSc in Chemistry and over 25 years of experience spanning a remarkable range of industries and analytical challenges, he’s the person in the room before any quote is issued.
Where Darren stands out is his ability to take difficult research problems and turn them into working, deployable systems, driven by a curiosity that never seems to run out.
Tara MacNeil
Tara brings over 20 years of experience in chemical technology and is SCION Instruments Canadas first employee.
She turns concepts into working hardware, hands-on at the Edmonton bench, deep in custom development and novel applications while also supporting customers, the service team, and the day-to-day operations that keep everything moving. She is, in the most practical sense, the operational heart of SCION.
Vincent Marinotti
Vincent manages customer relationships across Eastern Canada, bringing experience from both the analytical and business sides of laboratory operations.
One of SCION’s most seasoned reps, he’s known for building the kind of relationships that last well beyond the initial sale. He bridges technical requirements and commercial realities so his customers end up with solutions that fit their scientific and business needs.
Mitchell Jenkins
Mitchell manages customer relationships across Western Canada.
With a background in the specialty gas sector, he understands the operational and compliance pressures his customers face before they have to explain them.
He’s organized, responsive, and easy to work with and he’s building a track record in the region one solid result at a time.
Matt Hannaberg
Matt is based in Southwestern Ontario and manages accounts in the region, and his service work takes him across Eastern Canada and beyond.
That combination of account management and hands-on technical expertise means his customers have a single point of contact who understands both sides of the relationship.
His depth of knowledge makes him a genuine resource. A lot of small problems get solved before they become service calls.
Bryton Lehti
Bryton provides frontline service and support across SCION Instruments Canada’s customer base, keeping instruments running day to day. He brings hands-on laboratory experience to every call and approaches troubleshooting the way good service techs do, methodically, thoroughly, and without jumping to conclusions. Customers get someone who takes the work seriously and stays on it until the problem is solved.
How we work
One team, one handoff, one conversation.
Your account manager is your main point of contact but the whole team is in the conversation. A typical engagement starts with a scoping discussion, brings in Darren or another specialist for the technical depth, then transitions to service and support once the system is running. No escalation tickets, no offshore queue, no re-explaining yourself to someone new. The same people stay with your laboratory year after year.
Account Manager
Every engagement begins with a conversation. Your account manager hears the situation, scopes the ask, and shapes the timeline. They are your point of contact from minute one.
Specialist Joins
Darren or another specialist joins the call before any quote is issued. Method, matrix, validation, hardware — the technical plan is built with you, not mailed in after the PO.
Service & Support
Install, start-up, training, and the long tail of support. The same people who quoted it are the ones who keep it running. No escalation ticket, no offshore queue.
Your account manager stays on the thread the whole way through.
