Here is how we help our customers
Three problems, same partner, same approach
These are the problems we solve for you.
Not getting the right results
Peaks are missing. QC is slipping. The numbers don’t make sense. The instrument looks fine, but the data isn’t right. You need someone who will actually dig into the problem, someone who will take the time to understand your workflow and address it.
Not getting the right throughput
You’re running ten samples a day and you need to run sixty, or more. You’re running your samples between multiple instruments. Calibrations interrupt the queue. Connecting samples takes forever. You know you need to automate, and you need a partner that understands how to do it for your analysis.
Not able to get the analysis done at all
You’ve tried everything and it didn’t work, or you don’t even know where to start. Other suppliers have made promises they couldn’t keep, said no, or disappeared after the quote. The problem is real, the matrix is challenging, and you need a team willing to commit to the results instead of selling you something off the shelf.

How we work
Sampling, analysis, data processing, research and method development, training, and support. We've got you covered.
Most suppliers will sell you an instrument and leave you to integrate it. We start with the workflow and work our way from sample to result. We find the real constraints and design a system to address them. We validate performance in our own laboratory before we ship, and we stay involved long after commissioning, so the system keeps doing its job in the laboratory.
Every step is important, and you know it. Together they are the difference between an instrument on the bench and a measurement capability you can trust.
Our experience at your service, understanding the big picture.
Integrated systems, from the sampling to the data.
Our expertise at work to solve your analytical problem.
Service, training, upgrades, and adapting to changing needs.
Solving measurement problems from sample to result
Five ways we help Canadian laboratories measure with confidence.
Sample Introduction & Automation
Your analysis starts long before the instrument. We design and validate automated sample introduction systems that maintain sample integrity from source to injector, up to 64 streams, unattended.
Analysis
Natural gas, refinery gas, specialty gases, trace sulfur, petrochemical, environmental, and beyond. We design the analytical system around your actual matrix and validate it before deployment.
Data Handling
Compass CDS software drives Scion, and legacy Bruker, Varian and other suppliers’ instruments. Data processing and reporting, LIMS integration, 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, and client/server architecture.
Infrastructure Support
Keep your Bruker, Varian and other legacy instruments running. Parts, service, software upgrades, and capability additions. When replacement is the right call, we help you plan the transition.
Custom Research Projects
Some problems do not have a standard solution. Our applied research team develops novel methods and custom instrumentation for applications nobody else will take on.
Why Canadian laboratories choose Scion Instruments Canada
A knowledgeable partner serving Canadian laboratories
We are not the branch office of a multinational. We are a Canadian owned and incorporated company, built in Edmonton, run by the people who answer your calls. Canadian, serving Canadians, with Canadian expertise. Here is what that means in practice.
Transparent About Tradeoffs
We talk plainly about what a project will involve, how much it will cost, how long it will take, and what might fail. When complications come up, we raise them early.
Validated in Our Own Laboratory
Our Edmonton laboratory is a working research and production facility. Configurations are tested, methods validated, and acceptance criteria set before equipment ships.
Over a Century of Combined Expertise
Founded by Varian chromatographers with decades of experience. Our team includes applications specialists, technicians, and sales professionals with real field experience.
Canadian Commitment
100% Canadian-owned and Edmonton-based. Account managers and service support across Canada. Local time zones, local accountability, no obscure escalation path through an offshore office.

Let's start with your workflow
Tell us what you're measuring.
Tell us what you’re measuring, where the sample comes from, and what is not working. We will map the path from source to result and show you where the improvements will have the most impact, whether it takes five minutes or five months.
