Fully Automated Liquid/Liquid Extraction
Liquid/liquid extraction is a common sample preparation step in instrumental analytical chemistry. When performed manually these steps are tedious and time consuming and may also be harmful to laboratory personnel due to the potential contact to toxic solvents. Using the GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sample MPS liquid/liquid extraction can be fully automated including other sample prep steps and GC/MS or LC/MS sample introduction: Less solvent is needed, sample preparation can be performed 24/7 providing maximum productivity.
Fully automated solvent evaporation powered by the GERSTEL MPS
Solvent exchange, concentration and evaporation are typical tasks in sample preparation procedures. With the GERSTEL multi-position evaporation station (mVAP) these steps are easily automated. mVAP in an option for the modular Multi-Purpose Sampler (MPS) and can be conbined with a wide range of other sample prep steps by mouse-click. This also includes GC/MS or LC/MS sample introduction. Concentration is performed at user defined temperature, agitation and vacuum levels enabling highly flexible operation with mild temperature conditions and limited analyte loss.
Contaminants in surface water with sediment, analysis following EU-WFD
With the introduction of the European Water Framework Directive (2013/39/EU), the European Union established maximum concentration levels for contaminants in surface water. Application experts have developed a highly sensitive method to determine dissolved and particle adsorbed contaminants in combination. Using Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction (SBSE) based on the GERSTEL Twister. only a 100 mL water sample is required to determine 100 contaminants at pg/L levels by GC-MS/MS.
